Strange creatures called Velella velella have washed ashore California beaches. They are not jellyfish but they are jelly-like cratures. Another name for them is "by-the-wind sailors" because they have a clear fin that sticks out from their blue, oval body.<br />

"Every now and then, the currents and the winds will change and these guys will, instead of being pushed out to sea, they actually wind up on the beach," said Bader. These creatures started showing up around Washington, Oregon and later in San Francisco.<br />

Velella velella sting to catch their food but the sting is not very potent so humans shouldn't get hurt. The sea-creature uses its tentacles, that are like a jellyfish, to catch plankton and fish eggs. The creatures float on top of the ocean leaving them at the mercy of the wind and the current.<br />
<br />
"A lot of people probably never knew an organism like this existed in the world," Bader said. "And you know the winds change, and all of a sudden they wash up on shore and we get to see what the ocean is really made of."<br />

Astronomers using NASA's Hubble Space Telescope have unexpectedly discovered the most distant galaxy that acts as a cosmic magnifying glass. Seen here as it looked 9.6 billion years ago, this monster elliptical galaxy breaks the previous record-holder by 200 million years.<br />

These "lensing" galaxies are so massive that their gravity bends, magnifies, and distorts light from objects behind it, a phenomenon called gravitational lensing.  Finding one in such a small area of the sky is so rare that you would normally have to survey a region hundreds of times larger to find just one.<br />
<br />
The object behind the cosmic lens is a tiny spiral galaxy undergoing a rapid burst of star formation. Its light has taken 10.7 billion years to arrive here and seeing this chance alignment at such a great distance from Earth is a rare find. Locating more of these distant lensing galaxies will offer insight into how young galaxies in the early universe build themselves up into the massive dark-matter-dominated galaxies of today. Dark matter cannot be seen, but it accounts for the bulk of the universe's matter.<br />
<br />
Team members Kenneth Wong and Sherry Suyu of Academia Sinica Institute of Astronomy & Astrophysics (ASIAA) in Taipei, Taiwan, used the gravitational lensing from the chance alignment to measure the giant galaxy's total mass, including the amount of dark matter, by gauging the intensity of its lensing effects on the background galaxy's light. The giant foreground galaxy weighs 180 billion times more than our sun and is a massive galaxy for its time. It is also one of the brightest members of a distant cluster of galaxies, called IRC 0218.<br />

The team suspects the lensing galaxy continued to grow over the past 9 billion years, gaining stars and dark matter by cannibalizing neighboring galaxies. Tran explained that recent studies suggest these massive galaxies gain more dark matter than stars as they continue to grow. Astronomers had assumed dark matter and normal matter build up equally in a galaxy over time, but now know the ratio of dark matter to normal matter changes with time. The newly discovered distant lensing galaxy will eventually become much more massive than the Milky Way and will have more dark matter, too.<br />
<br />
The distant galaxy is too small and far away for Hubble to determine its structure. So, team members analyzed the distribution of light in the object to infer its spiral shape. In addition, spiral galaxies are more plentiful during those early times. The Hubble images also revealed at least one bright compact region near the center. The team suspects the bright region is due to a flurry of star formation and is most likely composed of hot hydrogen gas heated by massive young stars. As Tran continues her star-formation study in galaxy clusters, she will be hunting for more signatures of gravitational lensing.<br />

Florida Keys, Fla.-A turtle webcam captured the hatchings of hundreds of tiny loggerhead sea turtles on Friday.<br />

Sea turtles have been on Earth for more than 100 million years and (unsurprisingly, given their name) spend most of their time in the sea. At the very beginning of their lives, they hatch from eggs on the <br />

beach, after a 60 day period buried under the sand, and are guided by the moonlight reflecting on water to their natural home.<br />
<br />
If they are females they will return every two to five years to lay eggs on the beach and begin the cycle again. Female sea turtles lay around 100 eggs each on beaches in the Florida Keys from mid-April through to October each year.<br />
<br />
Harry Appel, President of the Keys-Based Save-A-Turtle say the cameras use special lights so the baby turtles won't get confused and disoriented.<br />
<br />
The webcam is part of ongoing efforts in the Florida Keys to raise awareness of sea turtles and the need to protect them. There are five species of sea turtle that nest on the Keys and all are endangered in part because of coastal development and water pollution.<br />
<br />
Loggerheads are among five threatened or endangered sea turtle species that nest on Keys beaches and other Florida shorelines.<br />

Murray Construction Company and Tampa Family Health Centers held a ground breaking ceremony on June 5 for the construction of a new medical building. The new site is along the Hillsborough River on Sligh Avenue in Tampa, Florida.<br />

The site will consist of dental, physician and OB/GYN medical offices. The design includes sloping entrance canopies and two full height, curved, curtain wall glazing systems.<br />

"This is the second ground breaking we’ve held with Tampa Family Health Centers in the last month," said Danton Carballa, ARCO/Murray project manager. "They are truly making a commitment to providing more people with access to their quality health care as they grow their footprint throughout Hillsborough County. We are proud to bring our extensive health care experience to the project to help in their efforts."<br />

The other use for Botox around the mouth is to elevate the corners of the mouth in those individuals that because of their expressions have down turned mouth giving a sad appearance. The root of the muscle which causes this is at the junction of the jaw line and chin and weakening these muscles help neutralize or elevate the corners of the mouth given a pleasing appearance.<br />
